We’re back for a sparkly 2026 Homeschool Ball!
As always we’re committed to making this night the highlight of your year!
We read all the feedback and we pleased to say you love the ball the way it is – for the most part. There are some ways we can make it better, and we’re here for it.
Firstly, Nigel will be back this year for the photography. We’re so happy to have him back, with his high energy and mad photography skills.
Secondly, we’re asking for song requests in advance. When you buy a ticket you’ll be asked ‘what is the one song that you would, without fail, get up and dance to?’. Let us know!* Popular songs will go on the playlist while others will go on our stories for you to vote on – keep an eye out.
Thirdly, you want ballroom dancing. Which we think is great. So great, in fact, we’ve partnered with North Shore Dance Studio (NSDS) to teach some group ballroom dancing lesson. We have two classes in the first week of the holidays, one on Tuesday 7th July, and one on Thursday 9th July, both from 10.00 am to 11.30 am. Classes are $20 each. Two different dances will be taught in each class so you are welcome to come to both to learn all four. Tickets for these classes are available to purchase alongside ball tickets on the trybooking booking website. No refunds will be given on these tickets but they are transferrable if you are unable to attend. Numbers are limited.
Lastly, catering. You were all pretty clear on this one. Keep it the same. Please make sure it’s finger food as we don’t have plates or cutlery to serve salads or soup. We’ll provide the drinks.

The fine print:
The ball is open to homeschool students between the ages of 13 - 19 years old.
Homeschool students who have been part of our community and are currently at Te Kura may also attend. To keep this ball open for homeschooled students we require your exemption number to purchase a ticket. If you are 16+ you may bring a date by purchasing an extra ticket. The date does not have to be homeschool but age restrictions apply.
We cannot accommodate school friends who would like to attend.
This is a school ball, so dress code is formal. It’s your one night of the year to glam-up. No jeans, hoodies, caps, t-shirts, miniskirts or bare feet. Sneakers by prior approval. Email for details.
Drinks are provided, please bring a plate of food to share for supper.
This is a drug and alcohol free night (no smoking or vaping).
Doors will be open at 7.00 pm, once you are inside the building you are to remain inside until 10.30 pm (except in the case of a fire or medical emergency).

We reserve the right to cancel any ticket purchased.
Tickets are limited.
*This is a wholesome event. No explicit songs will be played, and songs will be chosen at our discretion.
**Fun fact about the The Lighthouse Ballroom. It has a spring-loaded wooden floor specifically designed for dancing so that you can dance for longer without getting tired. Who’s here for the fun facts? Who’s here for making the fun last longer?
